15 Paid Internships

ATTN UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA MASS COMMUNICATION PROFESSORS:
The Oklahoma Press Association could really use your help in notifying your students about the Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation’s internship and scholarship programs. We hope you will consider announcing both of these opportunities to your classes and forwarding this information to any additional instructors that lead newspaper-related courses.

Last year ONF created a PAID summer internship program for college students pursuing a newspaper career. The program will continue this year by providing salary funding to 15 Oklahoma newspapers to each host an intern in summer 2009. Each intern will receive up to $2,560 for eight weeks of work. The student application deadline is February 18, 2009.

Students attending the following schools were awarded ONF internships in summer 2008:
Langston University
Northwestern Oklahoma State University
Oklahoma City University
Oklahoma State University
Southeastern Oklahoma State University
University of Central Oklahoma
University of Oklahoma

We hope we can include your school in the 2009 list!

The foundation also will continue its scholarship program by awarding three $1,500 scholarships to Oklahoma journalism students for the 2009-10 school year.

Applications for both programs are attached. Students may also visit the foundation’s website at www.okpress.com/onf to download the applications. The application deadline for both programs is February 18, 2009.

Please contact me if you have any questions and thank you for your assistance.
